MTFJ celebrates Community Recovery Programme's 500th rural job
The Mayors Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) is celebrating a significant milestone, having guided 500 mostly young and Covid-19 displaced workers into sustainable employment through its Community Recovery Programme.
The MTFJ prides itself on being a network that consists of New Zealand's Mayors and their communities. With this collectivity comes great knowledge and experience which is what makes us the strongest and best placed group to ensure all young people are given the opportunity to fulfill their potential.

Connecting for Youth Employment (CYE) Trust was established in Central Hawke’s Bay (CHB) in 2013, with support from the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs, to ensure that the community continues on a path to provide employment and training opportunities to young people.

Youth Inspire - Hutt City CouncilIn 2013 after a story aired on Campbell Live about the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs, Community Leader Awhina Vailima (founding and current Trustee member of Youth Inspire) spent a day with the Manager of the highly successful Mayors Taskforce for Jobs in Otorohanga.
At the 2018 LGNZ conference in Christchurch, MTFJ and central government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to signal the parties joint intention to create better employment outcomes for young people in New Zealand.
